Love is such a complex entity in our lives. We fall in love, and we continue to stay in that trance until that same feeling disappears on a whim. 5 CM Per Second, directed by Makoto Shinkai, is truly a needle in a haystack; and to me, a very thick and enormous haystack! This story tells of a young couple that fall in love, but soon battle the ability to embrace that feeling for eternity as distance, doubt, and remorse tear them apart. There is much character development within this anime, which is one of the key aspects I love to see. The animation done in 5 CM Per Second is outstanding. I couldn't believe my eyes the first time I watched it, but I know I'm not blind so it's definitely for real. With that said, this anime will definitely cling to you the instant you watch it. I love, and I know for a fact you'll love it.

There's a reason why it won at Italy's Future Film Festival!
