When you here the words "Comedy" and "Anime" together in the same sentence, you know the title name "Azumanga Daioh" is in that same sentence somewhere. Azumanga is one of the, if not the, most popular comedy animes to date. With every episode comes great laughter, and after each one ends, you need a new pair of underwear because you laughed so hard you wet yourself (at least I did). The anime does have a story, but it plays little part in the series. Like the manga version, it is mainly just short skits within each episode, unlike other comedy series such as Pani Poni Dash, which gives out comedy each episode relating to some type of storyline (each episode somewhat having its own story). Azumanga Daioh sticks out because of not it's comedy, but its "realness" of the jokes. Unlike series such as Pani Poni Dash, the jokes don't revolve around space aliens and giant robots (well, they do, but they don't really appear or anything). Instead, the jokes revolve around school life of the main characters. The depth of each character goes deep, and each one truly has their own unique personality. Not one character is like the other, thus giving the viewing a chance to relate to some of the characters. Personally, I found relations between me and Osaka. She's slow, I'm sloe. She spaces out a lot, I space out a lot. Two alike. The only thing that I wish there was more of, was the music. The music does barely sticks out, unlike in series such as Kare Kano or Evangelion, where music is key to the enjoyment of the series.Other that that, everything is fine, funny, and fun.
