The story revolves around Van and Ryuka the dragon girl who are childhood friends. Ryuka lives as a dungeon boss and cannot leave the dungeon hence why Van always visits her. Ryuka has a huge crush on Van and is having a hard time telling him how she feels and because she and Van are childhood friends (it is an unspoken rule of the anime community that childhood friends never end up being together) this makes her job even harder.
The dungeon seems like your typical dungeon filled with monsters and traps however everyone in the dungeon is good friends and they treat the whole thing as a job rather than a real fantasy setting which fits perfectly in the story.
The four main "side" characters consist of a harpy (Harpy-san), a minotaur (Mino-san), an orc (Ork-kun) and a kobold (Wul-kun) who act as Ryukas main bodyguards and they are like a family to her, always enjoying seeing her and Van together and shipping them in their made up headcanos.
I`d say that the 4 side characters are what makes this manga a hilarious comedy as they are the most relatable of the bunch and it is fun watching their shenanigans and ways of trying to finally help Ryuka end up in a relationship with Van.
