The story of lain can be hard to follow but not impossible. There are times in the show where everything has been completely lost and there is no story at all, however this is not the case. If you really try you can interpret everything that happens in this show. That being said, people are going to have different interpretations of certain things. But that’s apart of the beauty of this show. You can watch it 5 times and get a different interpretation of the same scene 5 times.
Characters: 10
Lain’s character design is iconic. Super aesthetic and all around pleasing. As a personality or personalities.. she is well written. The writers did a great job making a compelling layered character and I’m sure that you’ll be drawn to her.
Art: 10
The art of lain is one of a kind. The way the shadows are drawn, the way environments seem so empty but also so ominous, it’s all in sync with the vibe that is this show.
Overall: 10
This is worth watching for any anime fan. It’s up for free on YouTube right now. I recommend watching more like an ambient experience the first time, then if you do like it enough the second time through really try to come away with your own interpretation.
