Toshokan no Daimajutsushi, or Magus of the Library, is one of, if not the most beautiful piece of media I've seen in years, not limited to just manga, or just books as a whole.

The visuals of this story are on another level of excellent, some panels looking as if they could stand alone as art pieces in a museum, levels of detail which are, to be frank, absurd, and emotive character designs that can stand up to it all. The visuals were so good, to the point where it is the first and only manga I had to buy in physical.

But the manga isn't just visuals alone. The story behind those visuals can definitely hold it's own as well, with intriguing, well written characters, world building on the level of the top fantasy stories I've ever experienced, and a plot that, while it hasn't necessarily kicked into full swing as of where I am in my readthrough, has more than enough hooks and hints to the future to keep a reader invested, but even without the promise of future storylines, just seeing how the characters were to go about their daily lives within this world, I'm sure would be enough on it's own.

The MAL rating system lists a 10 Star as a "Masterpiece" rating, and while I don't always quite agree with that label, this is one of the times where I do believe a piece of work has indeed earned both the stars, and the title. I do implore, anyone reading this review, give this manga a chance, it deserves much more attention that it currently had, in my opinion.
