The story of two families with their respective problems, what do they have in common? An incident that occurred on a July night. A 40-year-old gentleman, Kazuhiro Kubota, on a business trip hits a 17-year-old boy on a Takuya Onodera motorcycle and while Kazuhiro's body dies, his mind-soul comes back but not in the right body. Now Kazuhiro is in Takuya's body and sees a world in which he no longer exists. Thoughts of him immediately turn to his wife and daughter and all the times he's made a mistake, he wants to make up for it, before leaving because Kazuhiro knows that Takuya is coming back and that this cannot last. A story that I liked at first but I didn't consider it a masterpiece then after Taniguchi's afterword, thinking back to the whole story, the thing I thought was "if it really happened it would be a devastating thing" and then the criticism of exploitation in the workplace in Japan and the way they want to shut up the family members of the person who lose their life. The story also focuses on the relationship between Takuya and his family who, before the accident, didn't get along very well due to the fact that he remarried another woman and his mother abandoned him. The level of the Taniguchi drawings is sublime, very realistic and very clean. It is the first story of him to be done more in European Graphic Novel than in manga style also in his country.
My rating for this comic is 8 for the story and 9 for the art.
