A downpoint of the anime is that not every one looks into the deeper meanings of the story line. I guess it's hard to see that if you're blinded by the art and overall characterization of the characters. Unless you take a close looks at the subjects being touched, it's hard to like this anime without thinking it's just another normal 'good looking guys' blah blah blah.
A few key things that this story touches on: racism, unconditional love, tradition, etc
I'm not going to explain when and where, because I'll be spoiling it for you guys...but if you pay really close attention, you'll see the above subjects covered in the story.
Other than the main character literally being a 'god' to everybody in the story, I really liked this!
