Preliminary (1/11 eps)
Link Click has one of, if not the strongest pilot episodes I have ever seen period. Every single scene is there for a purpose, that furthers the plot or provides another insight into it’s world. I believe it is refreshing how seriously Link Click trusts not only it’s story but it’s viewers. It doesn’t have a lengthy exposition, some monologue about how the world and time travel system works, it gives the viewer bits and pieces and knows that the story of Link Click is engrossing enough that the viewer will be willing to stick around despite being confused. The characters feel human, the dialogue is cheeky and smooth especially if you understand Chinese, and I absolutely adore the way they portray each character. Even if there is a cliche, the cliche is executed well. We see an overworked, hired just for looks female assistant that isn’t revolutionary, but what is, is the humanity painted into them. Through just the food they encounter’ the repulsing eggrolls that is the norm in her city life, the ones she view as comforting from her parents back home, it creates true moments where the viewer can empathize with the character on the screen. This is one of the most beautiful shows I’ve seen in a long while and I truly recommend anyone who is interested to give the first episode a try.
