This show here is by no means for everyone, as even personally it's not my favorite kind of anime. However, when judging by what the show is and what it strives to be, it's actually amazing. The anime plot basically revolves around a girl more or less bullying a male nerd. It starts off a bit too much in her sheer overpowering of our male protagonist, which is why I believe most people drop the show. Although, as their dynamic progress, their relationship starts to become a bit more nuanced and interesting.

Our protagonist "Hachiouji, Naoto" (which I will partially be referring to as senpai) is your usual shy, introverted, and reserved nerdy high school student, who's got that whole generic bullied backstory. The kind of person being pushed over and fall to the ground by the popular kids for them to laugh at. So he doesn't really say a whole lot and instead ends up mostly dragged along to whatever other people want him to do. Still tho, he starts to stand up to himself towards the later episodes, although hesitantly. Though, he still got one thing going for him, his ability to draw quite well.

To make the anime a bit more fun and put a spin on our seemingly dull male protagonist (her senpai), we get the focus point of the show "Nagatoro, Hayase". She's got a really interesting character as she chooses to hang out with an unpopular nerd, despite having the more stereotypical attractive people practically asking her to hang out with them. Her choice seems to be because she can have more fun with him. In their dynamic, Nagatoro is clearly the one in control of their interactions, often pushing her senpai around in a way closely resembling bullying. However, it's not in a vicious way, but instead in a playful and fun way which they both seem to enjoy. Like, Nagatoro is not looking to push down her senpai into the ground or anything like that for the sake of hurting him, instead, it's about having fun while it happens (in a significantly less brutal way) and making an entertaining game out of it which captivates both of them. It's hard to describe in words precisely how their relationship dynamic plays out, but it's by all means very captivating to watch, do not underestimate the depth of their relationship. Additionally, neither one of them is willing to admit love for one another or anything along those lines, yet, by the looks of things that's where they're heading, although, reluctantly.

Nagatoro also got a female friend group who occasionally either stands in her way or helps them out, which gives the show that nice bit of variety to keep things from getting overly stale, predictable, and boring. For example, Nagatoro really wants to keep her senpai to herself, so what do her friends do, challenge it a bit; grabbing senpai and making him do some things which Nagatoro perceives as infuriating. It's by no means like they're trying to steal Nagatoros boyfriend, just messing with her in an interesting way.

So in summary, it's a really interesting dynamic to explore here, one which you don't see that often, which is particularly nice to watch just for the sake of variety. It is by no means something I would recommend for everyone to watch, but if you like a passive kinda socially loser and nerdy male protagonist, being pushed around by a more popular outgoing, and attractive girl in a reserved, good-willing, and slightly romantic way. Then I would recommend it.
