“Actually, when I saw it was you I was so happy.”

Kaoru Hana wa Run to Saku revolves around Rintaro and Kaoruko who develop a friendship despite the hostility between their neighbouring schools. If you’re looking for a wholesome feel-good story about growth, friendship and love then this is it. I’m a sucker for fluffy reads so I was very much beaming with happiness while reading this. It has romance, friendship, parental love, healthy communication and heaps of growth. All of the main characters are very likeable and the dynamic between Rintaro and Kaoruko is great. They’re both warm-hearted characters who compliment each other very well. Although the story can be a bit cliche at times, it’s really well-written imo. The pacing is excellent and the art is lovely. The mangaka has a beautiful grasp on expressions that really capture moments wonderfully and highlights the beauty of growth within characters. Overall, this story is a beautiful gem that conveys the importance of being true to ourselves and I highly recommend it.
