When the prequel umibe no etranger was published in my country I picked it up and I really didn't vibe with that, I only wanted a nice slice of life about two persons of the same sex falling in love, and I was confronted with themes like loneliness, isolation and a difficult coming out story, which was so much like the situation I was living in my personal life.
Now fast forward 5 year this is one of my favourite BL.The relationship between Mio and Shun is really equilibrated in my opinion, they are radically different to each other but in a way so similar, which is really charming because it deviates from the classic cliché extrovert ray of sunshine with no worries at all/ serious introvert who is really gloomy.
In the title I described harukaze no etranger as a family centered BL, because the focus is not only the relationship between Mio and Shun, but also the family relationships and the way they can be difficult when you add homosexuality, but not necessarily abusive and traumatic.
This manga will always have a place in my heart because it's a rare representation of the complexity of family relationships and homosexuality
Ps, also the sex scenes in my opinion are pretty good and I really enjoyed them
Pps, the art is stunning and every chapter is better than the previous one
