Secchan is Tomoko Oshima's debut manga and consists of a single volume of about 180 pages.
It is not a masterpiece but it is still a beautiful story in a single volume.

The manga begins with the ending of the story and then proceeds to explain, going backwards, why we arrive at this conclusion. The protagonists are two students Secchan and Akkun.
Tomoko Oshima presents a Japan in full post-Fukushima crisis, an event that shocked and traumatized the Japanese, characterized by attacks and protests.
The style of the boards is very particular and may seem poor in details but in my opinion it is very sweet and calm and it struck me positively.
A touching story that deepens the relationship between the two protagonist. Secchan and Akkun are perfectly opposite and their relationship remains shrouded in mystery.
A somewhat stupid girl, who lets herself be carried away by events without trying to create a better life and friendships, finding sex as the only entertainment (for this reason her nickname is "Secchan"). A boy often unable to show interest in others, very shy but appreciated by his friends and his girlfriend.
We have two interpretations of the story and two events that continue together within the same volume. The story of Secchan and Akkun and their relationship and the events of a Japan that is finally no longer represented solely as the land of dreams that it actually is not.
Definitely a valid reading and worth recommending both for lovers of poignant stories and for lovers of short and compellings plot.
