Things to note about the series is that, most of the criminals were portrayed to be sympathetic and pitiful who end up committing crimes due to unfortunate circumstances. As much as Kindaichi vowed to be the one to stop the criminal from continuing to commit murders, he was also the first to want to save them from suffering. In which case it's what make the series stand out from other series of the same genre. This anime series mostly covered the cases from the Kindaichi Casefiles manga, Case Series, Light Novel series, Short File series and Young Akechi's Casefiles. That said, since the manga tend to have some very violent plot, some details in the anime had been changed accordingly.
