“Maple Town no Shouboutai” is a short fire safety film starring the anthropomorphic animal cast of the anime “Maple Town.” It’s satisfactory enough for what it is, and during its roughly 10-minute runtime, the film covers four major fire-related emergencies and how to handle them, with a catchy song at the end summarizing what was just learned. The story flows logically and ends in an appropriate conclusion.
Although prior knowledge of the “Maple Town” series may help one understand the characters better, it’s not necessary. I’ve never seen the series and I was able to follow along and figure out what the characters’ relationships with each other were, etc.
The animation is serviceable, although it’s a bit cheaply done in parts. The character designs are cute. The music and voice acting are okay.
Overall, if you’re in the mood to watch a fire safety anime, “Maple Town no Shouboutai” is a decent choice.
