I have to say I was pleasantly surprised especially after waiting almost 10 years for this.
-Story
To me it followed a similar format to the first season, the first episodes going into each of the characters backstories and their relationships with their partners given the newfound buddy system that was implemented. Overall, there was some criminals which they defeated nothing to heavy in the earlier episodes, but the last few episodes were the most exciting. I like how there is an underlying plot beneath the underlying plot. The villains for this subplot per say were unusual in the fact I couldn't take them seriously. In fact, I was rooting for them. But the story so far as of now 13 episodes felt more like a set up for the much greater plot later on. It didn't seem like anything was rushed yet some conflicts were utterly ridiculous but nonetheless it was still enjoyable considering nothing has really been covered about the main conflict here being that organization.
art-
I have to mention the art is the same aside from Agnes...... but the quality was not that great. The quality in the first season from like 10 years was so much better than the second season. It really just downgraded. Those last episodes the animation was LQ to the max with some CGI and weird camera angles. I felt like you could see the pixels at some point. When did they really make this, it's 2022 even full-blown CGI Anime has better quality than this. Just awful but I still liked it
character-
I thoroughly enjoyed all of the characters especially the new ones. Thomas got on my nerves to the very end, cat was kind of a pushover, subaru was headstrong, Ryan seemed unlikable in the beginning and in season 1 but he became one of the characters I adore, he really grows on you. All of them stay true to there characters. And of course Barnaby and Kotetsu are always arguing. However I still like Barnaby and Kotetsu relationship and character are not fleshed out as much it is pretty much very ambiguous. It was a lot more apparent in season 1 and in the movie but it seemed to be toned down this season and shelved but there are still some small tiny candies. I really like the chemistry between Nathan and Keith it just seemed to me at least there is some interesting feelings. Or maybe its just Nathan being themselves. Blue rose still seems to have a crush on kotetsu but Ryan seems to be making his marks. I enjoyed all of the characters, even Yuri who's handsome self appeared. He is the embodiment of being a little confused but having the right spirit which is why I can't dislike him and also he sounds a lot like Griffith. But he is still very mysterious to me so I have they can dwell on him more in the next 12 episodes. My dear Agnes, lost all her exquisite beauty and but her class and sharpness is still in tact. She is still the best gal for me.
overall-
I thoroughly enjoyed this. There is of course a lot of stuff that was left to be desired so I hope all these things will be covered in the next part. With the doctor, with the organization, lunatic himself. You know there is much to expand on so I am looking forward to it. And I of course hope they expand on Barnaby and Kotetsu as well and don't get cold feet. It'd really be such a waste. And I hope they can finally eat dinner, they kept mentioning this to me I feel there is definitely something behind this. Anyways 10/10 for me. I really felt bad for the villains though. They were good natured but unfortunate circumstances brought them to that. Either way, this served a solid start.
