Yes, when someone drops a name like that, you'd think it is as bad as Chargeman Ken, and it is. The difference of course is that Chargeman Ken at least is so bad it's good, Dame Oyaji on the other hand is just... bad. Bad left right and center.
Story: 4
The main character here is Damesuke Amano. A simple man, y'know? A man with a job and a family. A man who just wants to make ends meet for his family. Oh, if only he was that simple of a man.
Most of the stories treat Damesuke like ABSOLUTE GARBAGE. No matter how well it goes for Damesuke throughout the episode, the episodes will pretty much ALWAYS end with him getting the living shit beaten out of him by his HORRIBLE wife and their kids calling him all sorts of names.

The art is... ehh, Dame Oyaji doesn't look all that good, but we can't expect much from the makers of Chargeman Ken, now can we.

The soundtrack is alright, it's got that 70's anime feel that I simply adore. Is the voice acting good? Not by any means. Do the voices fit the characters? They sure do.
The theme songs are actually pretty good. Both the opening and the ending. Particularly the ending, both the music and the lyrics express exactly how I feel for Damesuke: a heartwrenching, emotional song about wishing for a better life.

Whenever Damesuke is the focus of an episode, I can never stop myself from feeling bad for him, I developed an empathy for him, and was genuinely worried about whatever might happen to him. And then... there's his wife.
Damesuke is unfortunately married to Fuyuko Amano, who the show lovingly calls "Onibaba": old demon lady. Let me just say I could NOT agree more with this nickname, because EVERY FUCKING EPISODE she treats him like shit, badmouths him every time she can, and whenever her kids are onscreen, they will inevitably get on board with Onibaba's abuses. Oh, their children. We have the younger son Takobo: he's just as annoying as you'd expect an anime child to be, and whenever Onibaba's about to come after her "husband", Takobo is inevitably the first one to tag along, and when he does, BOY DO I WANNA WHOOP HIS ASS. I'm not going into detail about what he does to his father because we need to get to his older sister, Yukiko "Obligatory Fanservice" Amano. Takobo at least holds some relevance to the plot, whereas Yukiko is just there, doing as she's told, regardless of how it may make the audience feel, because she's beautiful... on the outside, because her inner beauty is NON-EXISTENT. Everyone else is just horrible to Damesuke. Well, not EVERYONE else. There IS one character that is actually kind to Damesuke, that being Rokubee, a talking dog.

I did not enjoy this anime AT ALL. I absolutely FUCKING HATE Onibaba, Takobo and Yukiko are hardly written at all (aside from that one sibling bonding episode), everyone else is simply horrible to Damesuke, the animation is as bad as Chargeman Ken, everything is just painful to watch.

If you're planning on watching this, please don't. You'll regret every second of it, and will probably never want anything to do with this. The hatred you'll feel towards Onibaba is something I don't even know how to describe. Maybe if you don't know Japanese you may find it JUST A LITTLE funny.
FUN FACT! Remember when I said that this aired on TV Tokyo? Well it turns out that this was actually THE first anime to ever air on TV Tokyo! How sad is it that TV Tokyo's legacy in the anime industry started with what's probably the worst family in the history of anime?
