"Mamore! Shugomaru" or "Protect Me, Shugomaru!" is a Shounen Jump gag manga that brings little to no interesting traits to the reader. And that really sucks because when I stared reading the first three chapter of this series I thought "wow. it has a a week story but it will improve over time but its still semi funny!" Sadly. The story felt like it just didn't go anywhere. But just because its a gag manga, that doesn't mean it can't have a story. Look at "High School Family" a gag manga with an actually story and character growth mixed with some good jokes.
Characters: 4/10
The characters in this series are good but not something to rave about. The main girl Sanagi is a charter who has no traits that stand out rather then "she's just your typical high school girl" and overall, just a really bland character.
Shugomaru is where the meat of the character department is. He is a over protective 10 year old boy who is obsessed with Yu-Gi-Oh. This obsession however gets annoying fast.
Story: 3/10
The story is just Yu-Gi-Oh... That's it. It wasn't always like this. In the first three chapters, they at least solved the problem originally but now the problem to the character's can be just swept away with a placement of a card and that's it. I don't know what else I can say. Just read it and you will see this lazy story telling unfold in front of you.
Art: 4/10
One praise that I can give to this series that the art is alright. The character design can be janky at times but like everything else in this series, its alright at best.
Overall: 3/10
Overall, there is nothing special about "Mamore! Shugomaru" and it would be just a waste of time to read because it offers little value to the reader.
