I will start this review by saying that my opinions are subject to change as more episodes come out and the story concludes.
I tried my best to hate this show. I went into the final season trying to find reasons to hate it. Despite my negative mindset, this show has won me over. Attack on Titan Season 4 part 2 is the perfect mix of stunning animation, amazing audio, and a creative compelling story with characters whose interactions are the sole driving force for the plot.
The story isn't about a fight for survival against an ancient evil. There is no true good vs true evil. What we get is a clash of ideals that are all formed as a response to a character's unique trauma. Whether or not this narrative is successful in the end is yet to be revealed, but right now AOT is really trying to do and say something different which is something that is very rare in today's media landscape.
This show is a masterpiece until proven otherwise.
