Well to answer you shortly, animation and art style are two different things, King's Ranking respects the manga style to a degree, making it even better for animation purposes, so yes this anime is as good as people say. If you've been watching anime for a while then I trust you understand anything new or different will get a ton of hate, don't let that be your guide, heck don't even let this positive review be your guide, go out there, sit down, drink/eat something delicious and just watch at least 4 episodes of this anime.
Now, we know it's good, but are all good things worth watching? If you're very emotional, empathetic (or even a bitter human being) you'll need a lot of tissues. You might be thinking "it being emotional doesn't mean it's worth watching" and you're absolutely right! Because the main dish is not the emotional value it has, it's the characters and the relationships between them, it's the amazing world building and interesting environment it holds, the mystery, the why, what, who and even the "what the heck is going on i'm so confused right now". Everything comes to a circle every time you understand more about the harmony King's Ranking has and the circle becomes even bigger once you say "oh that's why!"
All you ned to enjoy King's Ranking is understand that everyone is different, not everything is as it seems, and that there's a lot of grey between black and white.
