Now, I crown you ‘Juujika no Rokunin’, as one of the worst manga’s that I’ve ever read.

Juujika no Rokunin is what you’d call a complete mess. The story is quite solid at the start, establishing the setting, characters, threat, and the general theme. The characters are interesting and have solid motives. For example, the main character Uruma, he has a cool backstory and motive for why he wants to get stronger. You follow his journey, but that journey is quite rocky. The story’s biggest issue, is how much shock value is littered in for no reason, rape especially. I understand shock value, it’s meant to shock the reader, but please, actually make it mean something. I hate when story’s add it, when it doesn’t even help the story go forward . There is maybe only one instance where the shock value actually does that. I’m mainly talking about the rape. The gore, and violent deaths make sense, but to add so much rape, for what reason? Another negative regarding this story’s plot is how so much of it doesn’t make sense. For one, the detectives investigate the killings, even interrogate certain characters, but somehow, nearly an entire school of girls can get raped without the police knowing? What on earth is this logic. The story derails so fast, the train just plummets of a cliff. Nothing makes sense. This manga really loves to make characters do a 180 in one chapter, currently, there is a character that was recently introduced. His personality and motives literally change in one chapter for no reason, it’s only done to add drama. It really just seems that this author loves to add drama and shock content just for the sake of it. There are some positives, for one, the revenge in this story isn’t the worst, there’s reasons to hate the antagonists. Also, the bond between the main character and his grandpa is nice, that is it.

Next up is the art. ‘Juujika no Rokunin‘ has some great art, this was the thing I liked most about this manga. There wasn’t one time where I hated it really how the manga was drawn, but… Like the story, the art doesn’t really flow right. I couldn’t tell what was going on a lot of the time, that could’ve been because of the story, but the art could’ve done a better job with that as well.

Characters, this is where the manga really shows how bad it is. The characters are written poorly. At the start they are made with great effort, every character major character gets spotlight, and you find out why they’re either a really good person or just a terrible human being. ‘Juujika no Rokunin’ really loves to throw away character development for shitty drama. (Excuse my language), but this is beyond bad.

Enjoyment wise, I don’t enjoy this. Sure, I am continuing to read it, but that doesn’t mean I enjoyed it. At the start, I saw the potential that this manga had, after a while, I also saw how poorly that potential was being used. This manga is just made for shock value, and that’s it.
