At the time this movie was made the Naruto anime was already deep into it's long run of filler before Shippuden. It's safe to say that the main series was already stretching itself pretty thin with what could be done with it's relatively small cast of characters. So they gave everyone a new outfit. Despite the fact that these kids are shown to where the same thing all day every day in any and every other situation, because they're going on a boat trip they decided for the time in their lives to change clothes.

Anyway this movie is not great. I give it the same grade as all the other Naruto Part 1 movies. The characters just feel so stagnant, like every fight is a rehash of one that came before, and every bad guy has to have some weird dumb power because they can't be bothered to have consistent power scaling between filler and cannon material. Also annoying callbacks to things like "remember when Rock Lee got drunk? That was really funny, so what if we did that but like... again." Or "Remember Naruto using the Rasengan. What if he had a special one this time." Oh and Sakura was there too I guess. Really dumb fights with guys that have no business posing a threat to the kid who solo 1v1 fought a fully transformed Gaara and won.

Anyway 6/10, probably wouldn't ever watch again.
