The work is primarily focused on establishing the main character Fuu's relation with the setting, as it ties into her role as an aspiring camerawoman, which ties in directly to a loose plot intrigue surrounding her father and a memory of a picture that was taken of him and the question of that picture's location. This means that Tamayura does not function much as a slice of like work in these OVAs, but more a series of stories, each with clear beginning, middle, and end, which have tangible takeaways and punchline style resolutions to themes pondered throughout the episode. The characters have enough strong characterization, particularly visually, throughout the episodes to make the journey with them through the loose plot driven episodes satisfying, even if it leaves little time for each character to receive too much attention.
