5 Centimeters per second is a wonderful piece of animated art. I brought it because i had enjoyed others made by the same company.

The story is very sweet and slow. It is a gentle view of the main characters life and the people he has loved. Not much really happens in it but it is a rather simple yet beautiful story which allows you a glimpes into a life filled with love and loss. Very little is really told to you and you are left to decide a lot of it on your own which in someways is very good and other's not so good.

The art is amazing. The whole piece is more of a chance for the studio to show off their amazing art skills and they have the right to. It is filled with beauty and wonderful colours which veer from soft and gentle to strong and bright. It makes you feel as if you could reach out and touch what is being shown to you.

The sound is fantastic and the film use's very good voice actors which make the characters come to life as their own. Along with the art it really help's the film come to life and make you feel for the story and the characters.

Their are very few charaters in the whole thing but they are pretty strong characters. Though they are explained to you in the film it does feel as if more could have been done with them and that they really did not come to life on their own as much as they would have done if given more of a chance to develop.

Though i enjoyed the film as it was very sweet the whole thing really was more of an art piece than it was really a film. It was beautiful and really increadible but i do feel they could have done a lot more with it then they did. I did find that it stayed in my mind for quite some time after and really made me reflect and think.

Overall, i enjoyed this anime and would watch again as it did make me smile but really think that a lot more work should have been put into the story so that it had the chance to unfold and develop rather than just being briefly explained and cast away in favor of beautiul art work.
