Based on the light novel was written by Gakuto Mikumo,
Kojou Akatsuki, a high school student living on Itogami Island, is suspected of being a powerful vampire called the Fourth Progenitor. On his way home, he notices a female student trailing him. After an altercation with two local demons, he learns that Yukina Himeragi is an 'attack mage sent by a secret organization (Lion King Organization) to observe him and the two begin to spend time together.

The anime takes the form of a combination of the genres Action and Ecchi. It is one of the best series out of most series in this genre, such as Date a Live or High School DxD both have similarities with Strike the Blood.

Story 9/10

Plot:

Short Version: Man-Made island named Itogami Island contains all sorts of monsters in its district. Kojou is suspected to be the strongest vampire in the world that could cause harm to the world.

Long Version:
On Itogami Island, a man-made island south of Japan that has developed into a monster and demon sanctuary. Rumours of a Fourth Progenitor are spread across the whole world and there is only one suspect...Kojou Akatsuki as the Fourth Progenitor, a powerful vampire that could potentially disrupt the balance of power among the world's three ruling progenitors.

As explained above, they began to spend time together and were frequently involved in life and death situations. The show is divided into several arcs, which range from 2-5 episodes long. Patterns began to float up, and people watching can feel it. After the first few arcs of Strike the Blood, they are mostly about people trying the sink the island. (The island would sink if the magic that was balancing the island was interfered or damaged)
However, the story differs each time and overall isn't mostly similar. Every different time some interesting stories and differences prevent viewers from feeling repetitive and irritated.

As someone who enjoyed the show, the only significant issue I have with the plot is that it never addresses how Akatsuki Kojou became the Fourth Progenitor. However, there are flashbacks of the incident but it's just not enough for people to understand what actually had happened in the past. No hate tho.

Art 10/10

The fights were appropriately coordinated, well-drawn, and were exciting to watch. The physical features and designs of each character were spectacular, the magic was interesting, and the scenery was beautiful.

Sound 7/10

Not standing out at all. Unlike the Art of the anime, there isn't anything special about it just like any other average anime openings and endings.
Not anything out of the ordinary.

Character 9/10

I found the main character, Akatsuki Kojou a bit two-dimensional and simple. He was likeable, VERY handsome, smart, and brave.
Though I understand that the approach of the character design was to make Kojou a character who is perfect in most ways, but not exactly interesting.
If Kojou were to be more like Yaze Motoki and cracked some jokes on the girls, it would have been entertaining to watch. OR if he was more similar to the main character of Charlotte Otosaka Yuu, which has great features for a villain and a PERFECT evil laugh. (Also would have been entertaining to watch)

Kojou aside, the lead female protagonist Himeragi Yukina in my opinion is a very responsible girl who takes her job seriously. Her way of thinking is strongly built and character-wise very enjoyable to see throughout the show.
Like any other girl (IRL), she gets jealous when Kojou is with another girl, which is realistic and quite funny to watch Kojou get beaten by a middle school girl.

Other girls in the harem such as Aiba Asagi, Rihavein La Folia, and Kirasaka Sayaka. Their personalities are distinctive and are special in their own way.

Supporting/side characters were incredibly one-dimensional and simplistic. For example, Kojou's male friend with headphones (Yaze) was so underdeveloped that those are the only two things I can remember about him (Other than the funny jokes). A few side characters, like the First Progenitor, could have been really interesting.

Another thing about Himeragi Yukina is that "No Senpai, this is our fight" or "いいえ先輩、私たちの喧嘩です" NEEDS TO STOP. It's fine if she says it once every few times but every episode?? Bruh...
But still, this doesn't make me hate her or anything, can't deny the fact that she's so kawaii.

Enjoyment 9/10

In my own point of view, the anime itself deserves at least an 8/10 (Personally I gave it 10/10 since I rate everything pretty high).

I really enjoyed past shows in the same genre such as High School DxD and Date a Live.
In the end, as a romance, comedy lover, I feel like Strike the Blood is one of the best anime in the action and ecchi genre. The storyline and plot are truly absorbing while not giving too many fillers and confuse the hell out of viewers. The art style is very creative in 2013 (The time it came out) and is unique. The music for openings and endings was a little off, but it does not affect the enjoyment of the anime at all. I'm satisfied with the characters and their development over the series. The enjoyment was decent, especially during fan service scenes. (Which is all over the place)
I really like almost all aspects of this anime. However, I wish for more fight scenes in the future since most of the fight scenes were short-lived and were only a small proportion of an episode while most of the time was just building up the intense atmosphere to achieve the fight itself.
I don't care what everyone says about Yukina, just like Aqua (People say she is useless), I will probably always have her on my Top 10.
Kids. Don't abandon your waifu just because some other guy said something about her!

I hope for the fifth season to come out faster!
I would recommend Strike the Blood to anyone who likes to watch Testament, DxD, and Date a Live. It's a great show and has a lot of similarities to these mentioned series.
