The writing and animation completely killed the show. Basically every chance they get, ie characters turning around or even the slightest zoomout, it looks like Berserk 2016 lite. When it comes to the writing, the emphasis on the "gamer" mentality kills it. The scene after Akina's first match in the tourny is especially abysmal, it effectively makes me ashamed to play video games. They haven't experienced enough character development considering it's been around 6 years in the show. The two main characters behave like they're 6 year olds with severe adhd. Even in the final episode, where Harou is spurred into action, it looks absolutely dreadful, the animation falls off of a fucking cliff. It also just does not feel like Harou has earned redemption in any way, he acts like a piece of shit for 8 episodes then is like "whoops it's ok tho right?" And for some reason all is forgiven, with zero consequences. It feels like it tries to mimic some of the emotion and story in 5 Centimeters Per Second, in it's general theme. But it just completely missed the mark.
