I thought people were hating on this because of the subject matter (which is probably true), but even if you're able to look past that like I am, this is just bad. For a premise like revenge rape, this is one of the most boring shows I've watched. If this stopped at episode 2, it would be better. Unfortunately it didn't and we have a worthless plot to slog through. No, the gratuitous sex scenes don't make up for the stupid plot as those are unexciting. Not even worth skimming through the episode to find them or watching clips on hentai sites. The rape sucks too. Compare episode 2's rape scene to the later ones. It's not as gruesome but it's executed much better. If they were all done as well as episode 2's this might actually be an edgy guilty pleasure. Instead they're all very... whatever. Granted they're not your typical hentai where the victim ends up loving it because the MC's soooo big so I'll give credit where it's due. If dark fantasy rape is your thing please just watch Kuroinu instead.
I've talked about rape so much in this review because there's not much else to talk about. There's not a single character with any depth here so it's hard to care about anything. The villains are obviously evil to the point where you wonder how only the MC can see it. Thanks Keyarga. I never would've guessed the empire using innocents as hostages and publicly executing them is bad without your guidance. The female leads, once their character arcs are resolved in a single episode, have what little personality they had stripped to become nymphos in the MC's harem. And that's all this anime really is: a bad harem hentai with an edgy excuse plot to waste your time.
From what I could see, this anime failed to bring the large scale social media outrage that was hyped leading up to its release. I think that speaks volumes. No, you're not owning the libs by watching this. It's not so bad it's good either. Don't waste your time. As of this review, the uncensored version of the final episode isn't out but that's not going to affect my rating anyway so whatever.
