Story: The story mainly revolves around a boy named Keiichi, who moves to the quiet town of Hinamizawa, everything seems peacfull at first, but then strange things begin to happen.
At first, the story and plot can be confusing, because the show is cut up into "Arcs". There's the questin episodes, or rather the question arcs, and then there's the awnser arcs. You have to be patiant, everything explains itself. In each arc, someone is eaither being killed, or another question has popped up. The plot is good, your never bored, and you always want to know what happens next. I can't really say more without spoiling it.
Art: To me the art was...meh. But I'm not complaining, overall, it was great. All the characters, were drawn uniquely, and each had something special about them.
Sound: I don't know the names of the voice actors for the Japanese, but it was AMAZING!! They all fit there characters so perfectly, I really enjoyed it. They all got the emotions perfectly. As for the english dub...well, what can i say. The japanese was better, naturaly. The english voice's just semmed...unfitting. The most annoying to me were Rika and Keiichi. Rika's english voice actor just seemed to high-pitched, it annoyed me. Keiichi...I just didn't like it. So i suggest the Japanese with english sub, but that's just me.
Characters: I'm trying not to spoil anything, but the main character is keiichi, no matter what arc you watch, he's in about all of them. In every arc, there's a different "villian" a different "hero", and a differnt "Victom". Sometimes it repeats the villian or victom, but none the less, the characters are entertaining. My favorites would have to be Rena and Keiichi, for many reasons, but if i got into why, that would be considered "spoiling".
Enjoyment: Higurashi no naku koro ni has alot of gore and violence in it, with many plot twists, which makes it veerrryy entertaining. If your not into horror, or gore or whatever, then i really wouldn't suggest this. Aside from all that, there is some comedy, which is also a plus. I for one enjoyed this series.
Overall: All in all, higurahi no naku koro ni is an awesome anime,it's intelligent, humerous, gore filled, and always makes you want to know what happens next. I would reccomend this to anyone, and if you do decied to watch it, I hope you like it. :)
