The gist of the story is a 34 yr old shut in dies after saving a few kids from being hit by truck-kun. gets transported to another world same old same old. the story picks up though at birth and goes from there vs glazing over the formative years. The story so far has been pretty normal there is magic and swordplay and all that good jazz and its about what you would expect. the twist is that the MC's past life and the traumas from it still haunt him and are portrayed very well. He of course having an extra 34 years of memories most of those being a degenerate lends him to being more crude which can rub some people the wrong way. Overall though there is growth of his character each episode the man he was warring with the man he wishes to become.
The characters in the show are well done and perfectly voiced. The periodic parring of the mature inner voice of the MC and the child voice work perfectly together. The family dynamic is also interesting showing flawed individuals that still really seem to care for one another.
The art in this anime is amazing especially when it comes to the spell craft. Not much more to say here. the sound also is done well the music hits just the right notes to aid to the storytelling and again with the spellcraft works very well especially that last one in episode 2.
The story does deal with more mature issues such as adulatory though its brushed aside perhaps a bit too easily.. overall though its a solid show that has some good humor. again giving the underlining story its a bit on the crass side but I at least found each episode to give a few solid laughs.
I would definitely suggest this to anyone who is a fan of the isekei genre or of great art paired with a thus far solid story and is not confused with how the idea of a person who is reincarnated and maintains their knowledge and memories of their previous life may find themselves liking people their own physical age. This seems to be a sticking point for a LOT of people. Many reviews will say its pedo in nature, this is of course by people who add past plus present, I can see where they are coming from but he is in fact 7 years old. As the show moves forward a good bit of the perv aspects dim down. Yes he still likes himself a pair of breast but it takes an even further back seat then it does in the beginning. Especially after the events about mid way through when he got a rude awakening to the reality of the world and his actions.
In the latter sections of the show there is a lot more combat and a bit of a shift in focus. the combat is well animated for the most part not perfect but still better then most. They also introduce another character which really meshes well and gives a new angle from which the MC and others around him can grow. Honestly I can't wait for the second season and hope that it maintains the same production value and that the studio doesn't bend the knee to the naysayers and professional complainers.
