So far there have been some very contradictory reviews for this show. For those that said it was so bad they had to stop watching I couldn't accept their assessments. In order to give a good review you have to finish what you start.
Episodes 1-7: There seems to be a very light-hearted element in which this series finds itself. It frequently flash-backs which starts to get irritating, yet the flashbacks do help to flesh out characters. The show is obviously trying to be serious and whimsical at the same time. For those that are into a dark anime (i.e. Claymore) this will not be your cup of tea. It seems to bridge the gap between dark subject matter and some of the more cartoonish anime. The show has its moments where it shines though. The voice acting is superb. The CGI is kinda awkward, but you get used to it after the first 3 episodes. Many have said that the series goes downhill after episode 2, but actually episode 7 is one of the strongest moments. The opening scene is classic with the deadpan commander having to near with his all girl bridge crew, ala Macross, and the episode fleshes out the characters. More to follow in my future reviews. My main negative though has to be the fact that the animation of some of the female characters is ridiculous. The breasts are just irritating beyond the point of sanity. Luckily, with the exception of one, this is not something that you have to see all to often among the main characters.
