I have finished watching the third and final season of Overlord, hence now I can give my full review of the movie here.

The plot of Overlord starts with this: A young adult named Mmonga who is a shut-in and plays a DMMORPG (Dive Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game) called Yggdrasil and lives in Japan. He is fully dedicated to this game and works all day in the morning and invest them all into the game. Leaving just enough cash for him to survive and continue playing his beloved game. The setting was in Japan and the year is 20xx. After 12 years have passed, the servers are about to be shot off. Within the game exists a guild. It is called Ainz Ooal Gown, it has 41 members and all characters within the guild must have their avatar as a non-human creature. The guild is one of the strongest within the game and the main character and Mmonga is the leader of the guild. But over the years, people stopped playing the game and there are only 4 left playing the game. One of them is Mmonga. the 3 others are not very active and Mmomga stayed in the game all the way till the servers shut down at midnight. He fell asleep at the same time and the next day he woke up in his own character avatar (an undead). He was in the guild and is transported into his game world, ready to explore the unknown.

Spolier (Only for episode 1)

The story is very unique, the main character is indeed overpowered in the game, after being transported in this new world all of his abilities remained. But the world is slightly different, the only thing that is left of his world is his guild. The outside world is completely different, with many kingdoms, civilizations, etc. This gave him the desire to conquer the world and spread the great name of Ainz Ooal Gown. Hence, he will be facing many challenges on his way. He is portrayed like an antagonist, but this helps us understand that not all "antagonists" are bad. He wanted to find his friends in this new world and is doing all he can to spread the name of the guild and takedown opponents and people looking down at the guild. It is a very interesting anime, with loads of tactical strategies, psychology, and battle scenes that ensure the audience won't stop watching.

In my opinion, Overlord is different from other Isekai genres because the bad guy is the protagonist, this gives a huge twist since most isekais involve the protagonist saving the world. But Overlord adds a twist to the norm.

The art style is decent but slightly outdated, the newer Overlord seasons (Season 3 for ex) has better art but is not on par with the very top. The sound recording is good and consistent, there is a lot of character development and thus the enjoyment from the challenges and changes is high. Overall I feel like Overlord is a top notch anime of it's time and will stay as a 2010s classic.
