I am not usually compelled to write a review on an anime, even if it was what I considered good. But with Hourou Musuko, I had to make an exception.

This review is written after watching 11 episodes.

I have seen many animes that touch on the idea of gender benders and opposite gender plays but never have I seen an entire anime dedicated to portraying the life of a teenage boy with his own gender identification crisis. The story takes you long with Nitori, our main character, who sets out to discover how he really feels about himself (or herself).

We are able to put ourselves into Nitori's shoes and witness and understand how he feels about himself in everyday convesations, activities, and his own urges. How he approaches and handles each situation is completely realistic and awe-inspiring.

I highly commend AIC for producing such a wonderful anime on a matter such as gender identity. This anime really helps you understand how people going through the same situations feel. With that said, if I could, I would have given this anime a 13/10. But unfortunately, we're left with a 10/10.

*Note* Do not come into this anime with a judgmental mindset. It will only ruin the message and the delivery of it if you do.

Also, real quick before I leave, the OST of this anime is simply awesome. Enough said.
