But I think that has many characteristic of Neon Genesis Evangelion, in the 10th chapter show a corpose.... like Lilith in NGE.... pretty similar.
The main building of the school is divided in sectors... like Centrla Dogma.
And enemys (Novas)... are like the "angels".
I think that they decided use the succesful concept of evangelion.
In conclusion good anime.
