Tower of God isn't perfect anime, but there is one thing which makes is far better than a lot of other shows in recent years.

Yes, Bam is bland, boring and overpowered, but the story is self-aware about this issue. I liked how in last episode Rachel actually adressed the problem of him being that awesome and liked for nothing. What makes Baam so special? Why did he deserve so much praise from others? I've been questioning the same thing for 13 episodes. Rachel is terrible, deeply flawed person, but still relatable to certain degree and well written. Easily the best character in show. That's why I rated ToG a bit higher than it actually deserves, there are many stories with Bam like overpowered characters, but so few where authors are aknowledging that maybe their MC is too good and perfect. I'm genuinely hooked by juxtaposition of stereotypical anime OP hero and "normal" person without any special abilities or talents and interested to see more of their rivalry. It speaks a lot about anime community that people are complaining about Bam for being Mary Sue and than hating the only character who wasn't praising him.
"Oh, why did this beautiful woman decided to help this the random boy" followed by "how dare female character to not kiss the dirt under MC foot" is funny and sad and the same time.

Other characters got a decent development for 13 episodes series. Too many of them are comedic reliefs and some characters are lacking screentime prior certain twists, but overall they are entertaining to watch. I want to see more of them, especially Khun, this guy carried the show on his shoulders, and Lero Ro with other rankers.

Worldbuilding is too ambitious for the scope of story (at least in anime). Some interesting revelations were dropped - like the fact that tower is a bunch of different worlds, but never developed further. Most likely it's saved for next season or "read the manhwa", but I wanted to see more in the first season to understand the context of some scenes better. The rules of floor tests were are over complicated sometimes and hard to follow, but actual tests are fun to watch.

Production value is nothing special, artstyle is unique and I liked color palette, but that's all I can say. OST is great.

So, it was good seasonal anime with plenty of flaws, but interesting message that isn't presented in manga/VN based series.
