Arisa (Manga) add (All reviews)
May 24, 2020
Arisa was the first manga I ever read. Now, after having read many more shoujos and other genres, I can genuinely say that this is a solid piece of work. While the pacing in the beginning is way too rushed, this issue improves much more in the later volumes. But this manga's standout feature is definitely its premise. Never have I read a concept so creative and intricately woven and developed. Although I do think it would have heavily benefited if it was targeted towards an older audience to develop its darker themes, this story is such a fresh breath of air for shoujo. Additionally, all of the characters have real human motivations and flaws that drive the story. Tsubasa is my favourite female lead ever and her dynamic with Manabe is amazing.
