Mixed Feelings
An average show from the beginning to the end.

Whether it's the story, the characters or the soundtrack Chrome Shelled Regios wasn't able to surprise in no moment at all.

The story is quite simple and it could have actually surprised if it was well managed.
In a future where the world is destroyed, humans live in dome-looking cities that move around the wasted Earth's surface. The only beings that can survive outside the cities are Filth monsters which quite often attack the cities, making it necessary a military force formed mostly by students. The most powerful city, Grendan is where the main character, Layfon Alseif is from. After being involved in a troublesome situation Layfon moves to Zuellni where he expects to start a new life and forget about his past. He meets the Student Council President Karian, who forces him to join the 17th Military Arts Platoon, leaded by Nina Antalk and thus his adventures begin.

However, the excessive focus on unimportant things made the anime lose track real soon. The Heaven Blades were just for decoration, the "engrish" side story made barely no sense at all and the way the things were "explained" all in a rush in the last few episodes was far from being satisfactory.

The art is decent, at most. The character design annoyed me and the sceneries had nothing special to it. The action scens are quite lame, too. The soundtrack was the best part on the anime, even though it was miles away from being remarkable and it sometimes felt out place.

The characters is where this series could have saved itself but it ended up being its doom. Besides from Layfon, Sharnid and Nina the other characters had barely no development at all and all acted like perfect cliches. They just kept popping here and there for no particular reason.

Overall there's no reason I can see to recommend this anime to someone, it's just not worth the time.
