Preliminary (9/12 eps)
Boy this is a really a good anime. It's original, the art is awesome and unusual and the story is actually incredibly educational. You might just come away knowing quite a lot more about animation and anime production after watching this.

The story is about three friends who start a club to make anime. The show's strong point is the characterization of the main protagonists, Midori Asakusa, Sayaka Kanamori and Tsubame Mizusaki, who come across as real people with real interests. You quite literally enter their brainstorming and see how their ideas develop and evolve and how they problem solve and invent as they go along.

The art of the anime is entirely its own. This is no moeblob. The character design reminds me of Jamie Hewlett (of Gorillaz fame) and the environment designs remind me of Teikoku Shounen (aka Imperial Boy). For some reason, I couldn't help think of Tekkonkinkreet while watching the show. There's a bit of Solarpunk about the whole thing, but it has nothing to do with the story itself, which could just as well take place at a generic highschool in a Tokyo suburb. The fact that it doesn't makes it all much more interesting to watch.

Sadly the last episode felt rushed and incomplete. And the final product they had been working on wasn't particularly convincing. It kinda sucked.

Oh well, this show is still very much recommended if you're looking for something new and fresh!
