What was originally a manga about manga became an anime about manga.
The story is something new and unique, which is pretty hard to pull off. I am also impressed that the manga-kas could transition so smoothly from Death Note to Bakuman. That in itself warranted a decent review. But even without my preconceptions of Ohba and Obata, the story is fantastic. It seems to really draw you into the world of manga and gets down to the brass tax of it. No illusions; no misconceptions. The characters are likable and developed. Throughout the anime (and manga) there's only one thing that bugs me. It's hard to be clear without spoiling it, so I'll only say that something Azuki said seems a bit drastic/unrealistic. But then again, manga has never been well known for being realistic, right?
Otherwise, the concept is unique and well-orchestrated.
