The story revolves around Mima Kirigoe who is introduced to us as a pop-idol and in the first few minutes itself we come to know that she is going to quit being a pop-idol to become an actress. The film explores the character of Mima Kirigoe and how her perception she has of the world changes. A thing which she does out of innocent curiosity acts as the anchor for the further swirl of events that is about to take place in her life and change her state completely. Right from there the intensity of the film increases like water boiling slowly in a kettle. The film kept me at the edge of my seat till the very end. The twists are so sudden and has a huge impact on the progression of the story.

This film is such a breathtaking creation. It is one of the best psychological thrillers I have ever seen. The plot is really so beautifully woven with a strong baseline. The way Satoshi Kon(Director) increases the rhythm of the movie as it progresses is so fucking beautiful. Considering it is his Debut film, it is just too good. Every character had a reason to be present. The screenplay is so elegant and stylish. There was no frame which seemed unnecessary. There where no unnecessary characters involved in the plot. Every frame was so artistic and beautiful. Satoshi kon didn’t shy away from being raw while delivering scenes of profanity.

The film has its take on how the world perceives innocence, the perception which is so sad and true. The film explores the realms of reality and illusion with such depth that not everybody would be able to digest. At one point you will confused of which is real and which is an illusion, is it really happening or is it just happening in the character’s head. This movie is not for the faintest of souls. It might affect you mentally and put in a swirl for days. It might make you question yourself about your take on reality. The film is that good.

The choice of musical scores used in the film is really amazing. It adds so much intensity to every scene. It alleviates the flow of the film to another level.
