Preliminary (9/32 chp)
Story: 9

Have you ever experienced at least once in your life where you have to decide between two choices and leave the other choice for life - i.e. a dilemma? Of course you have, who am I kidding. Well, Shounen Y portrays that very case. It is a death game where the MC is not directly in any mortal danger, well except for that one game. That is how unique Shounen Y is. It's pacing is alright. Not so fast nor so slow. Well it does have some "that escalated quickly" moments, but so does every other death games right? The only problem I have with this manga that keeps me from giving it a 10 is lengthy dialogues, like HxH. But it's only for a chapter or two, not for the whole manga.

Not bad, but not great as well. For a horror, psychological manga, its tone is too light. It does have some bloody and gory scenes, but because of the light tone, it's seems light compared to other horror, psychological mangas. So if you're exposed to many horror, psychological mangas already, then you may find this too light for a death game that you forget you're reading a horror, psychological manga. The designs aren't bad as well. But there's one character design, as well as that character's personality, that doesn't fit one's role well. The panels are also put in an easy to understand manner.

Great (not sarcastic). The MCs (I don't know if it's official but I believe there are two MCs) have understandable and relatable personality. As such, their actions and reactions are understandable as well given their personality. But what I like most of the MCs is that they're true to their ideals despite the other not agreeing. And it's interesting to see whose ideal come out to the top and their development with each other. Other than the MCs, there's one character who, like I said in the Art section, does not fit one's role well. Like, its actions are so out of place that it's funny. It's not really bothersome, it's just... weird.

Enjoyment: 9

A great manga, really. It deals with morality, ethics, dilemmas and the likes. One of the few thought provoking mangas I know. It's one of a kind. I'd definitely remember this my whole life as the first manga (if not the only) I've read whose premise is about dilemmas. The only problem really is the lengthy dialogues that appears only for a chapter or two, but even those are interesting enough to read through without becoming bored. Other that that, it's great.

Overall: 9

P.S. I made this review having read 9 translated chapters only. So if there are inconsistency in the future, I'd be sure to change it.

P.S.S. This is my first review so please forgive me for any mistakes I may have committed and feel free to comment me on my mistake so that I may be aware and improve my future reviews.
