Preliminary (6/12 eps)
Six episodes into the 2nd season and already my predictions have come true. This series has no idea where it's going and it feels like every episode is being made up as it goes.

I've had issues with Bakumatsu ever since the 1st season. I didn't think it was a standout anime and a lot of the complaints about it were valid. I personally thought the 1st season wasn't good. I didn't hate it, but I wasn't in love with it either. I figured it would end with 12 or 13 episodes. But when it was announced that there would be a second season, you could hear the people who even bothered to watch it give one big massive, "Are you kidding me right now?"

I am a completionist and despite not liking the 1st season, I wanted to give the Bakumatsu Crisis a chance because compared to the first season, Crisis sounded like it would put more focus on the story because of what happened in the last episode of the previous season and the several events that could affect the timeline Takasugi and Katsura are currently in.

After six episodes, I can conclude that it's even worse than the 1st season. Given that we are only 6 episodes in, I will air out a lot of the issues I have with the story, characters, and just overall lack of planning and story structure so far. Anything after will be updated once the series is finished.

I stand by my claim earlier when I said that this series has no idea where it's going and how each episode is being made up. The crisis revolves around the Chronometer and yet with the obvious dangers that are happening and the threat of time being permanently altered, it feels like the characters don't care what is happening. Or, if a crisis is happening, it gets solved and doesn't add anything to the plot. Especially with episode 6. At this point, I knew that the producers and writers don't know where to go with the story. Halfway through and yet nothing is solved or even being remotely solved. This is my biggest issue because there is a problem the characters are up against and yet they go through the series like it's a slice of life anime with the Chronometer being swept under the rug like it isn't even an issue. There is no rising action or climax to anything.

With each episode so far, they seem like completely different stories. I sometimes forget I'm even watching Bakumatsu Crisis and am watching something else entirely. That is not a good sign.

Then we have the characters and they lack any personality. Rather, it seems like they have just one personality and that is their entire character. Basically, characters devoid of a personality, let alone characteristics that stand out. They are boring and easily forgettable. They're hot, yes, but being hot doesn't make up for a lack of personality.

Since there are six episodes left (please let this end with 12 episodes and no season 3), I will see if my opinion has changed and if it'll try to fix the issues but if it doesn't, then Bakumatsu Crisis will no doubt be one of the worst anime I have seen.
