Having never seen or read any of the Negima stuff, I didn't realize until partway in that this was a show set in the future of another show. That said, you don't really need to have seen negima to feel the connection the returning characters have with each other.

What jumped out at me most was the first episode of this series. If the rest of the season had been like episode one, this would have been an all time favorite for me. I think the story notches down a bit after episode 1, but I still found it very enjoyable. Some of the reviews from manga readers point to the cramming of a bunch of chapters into one corre season, and I can kind of see that.

If they could have made a season based solely on Touta's connection to Evangeline, it would be an all time favorite for me.

Now, I guess I should go watch Negima.
