At the beginning of this series, I liked it but thought it was a pretty typical high school romantic comedy. A few episodes later, I was pleasantly surprised to find it actually went much deeper than that. My sister asked me a few times, "are you STILL watching that anime about the tall girl and the short boy? How much plot can they really make out of that?". Well, actually, quite a lot. The whole series is 25 episodes and somehow the whole height difference gimmick never gets boring and actually continues to be funny throughout. It even gets really quite touching and emotional at times, and only resorts to typical romance cliches in the last few episodes (this isn't enough to ruin the series though -- it resolves itself pretty well). Any girl whose ever had a crush on an oblivious and tactless boy will be able to identify with Risa, and Otani's feelings are pretty understandable and realistic too. The banter between them and their natural ease with one another is what makes the show so fun and different. If you have even the slightest interest in shojo anime, I highly recommend this.
