Papaya Gundan is a pretty good interwoven series of short love stories about a hostess bar. All of the stories are pretty ecchi--lots of chests, lots of sex. There are a number of love stories here, but the manga really focuses on three characters (who come and go in all of the stories):

-- The manager, a 30-something man who falls for a fujoshi
-- A young, lesbian hostess who is aggressively pursuing her sempai
-- The sempai in question, a bisexual, ditsy, and sexually promiscuous young woman

By the way, all of the romances are hetero-, except for the lesbian's pursuit of the bisexual.

Story: The love stories here are mostly pretty good. None are spectacular but I found none of them really frustrating. The only one that was slightly annoying was the yuri one, and then just because the one girl is just a bit too ditsy.

Art: Above average josei/shoujo smut artwork. The nudity is sexy, the characters are beautiful (when they are supposed to be, anyway), the art is crisp and consistent.

Characters: I really enjoyed the characters. All of them are struggling with the reputation of working as a host or hostess--which is not necessarily prostitution, but very much looked down upon as if it were. But they all have real reasons to be there, they all are looking for real relationships despite their job, and they (mostly) support each other.

Enjoyment: I'm normally not a fan of yuri, and I was a bit skeptical of the premise, but I'm glad that I tried it out. It's a very fast read, and leaves you with a good feeling.

Overall: A strong 7/10. Not a manga that will blow you away, probably not one that you will fall in love with, and not everyone will like the mix of hetero- and yuri romances. But still a fun, sexy read.
