Like most of the reviews I have seen for this show, I was utterly shocked to see the overall rating for it: a six.
To me, that is too low for a series as great as this. I am someone who is not usually into history, but I enjoy this show. The story is so intriguing that I believe anyone can find enjoyment as well if you stick with is. Do not stop at the first couple of episodes. Keep watching and you won't regret it.
Unfortunately, I feel as though the animation really lacks. The art itself is great, as far as style and design. As someone who is in love with character designs in general, seeing previews of this anime was enough for me to check it out. So much detail went into the characters clothes and the architecture and scenery. It seems as though the animation suffered a bit due to that, sometimes looking a little cheap. Luckily, it is something I can overlook because the designs are so brilliant, as with the rest of the anime.
Again, I knew not a single thing about the historical setting this story is placed in. Usually, I would be bored by this type of historical setting. While it can feel like a lot of information for me personally, I still manage to keep up and understand what is going on.
I'm glad I didn't overlook this great anime.
