No, just..... no. What I was expecting from this was another brilliant adaptation of an equally brilliant manga that we had seen in the first season, and I was sorely dissapointed. A confusing plot coupled with unexplained characters that even birthed the joke of "you'd get it if you read the manga" who's only redeeming qualities is good animation and a singular memorable song brought me to tears not from emotional pain, but from the suffering endured of audibly exclaiming my dissatisfaction with the stripping of an originally well written story reduced to a sub par second season. Quite simply, I just don't understand how this happened. A near perfect adaptation of the first season showcased the emotional and psychological pain and horror of the destruction of one's humanity that was wrapped up in an eerily eliquent ending that certainly stayed in my mind for plenty of time after viewing it. While no masterpiece (as many of the more hardcore and "edgy" fans treat it), it certainly superceded this second season immensly and instead of wasting four hours of your life you should simply go to your local bookstore or find a website and read the source material.
