Mixed Feelings
I came across this full movie on youtube of all places actually. I hadn't grown up watching Fist of the North Star much although i was very aware of its existence and fanbase. This movie however brings a fresh and more modern art style that pays homage to the original art which is what prompted me to watch it, because although i love older anime the original was a bit dated in terms of how its aged throughout the years. That being said i did have a fair amount of enjoyment from this movie and most definitely can not knock its art whatsoever. The storyline was decent but the general movement/animation was okay at best (not the most fluid a bit stiff, although the original was not much different). However being a newer/modern movie i expected a bit more out of the character movement/animation so that was a bit of a let down for me. The movie starts out pretty strong and really picks up towards the middle for me however the last 20minutes or so seemed a bit rushed and lackluster in its execution. (Spoilers Sort of ->) The end fight and scene is what really disappointed me as the buildup for the final fight was nice but ended so briefly that i can hardly call it a fight at all. I realize Kenshiro is known as a strong dominant character but the ending fight scene was pretty pathetic ending in roughly 2 brief exchanges and some meh dialogue only for the general conclusion of the movie to be devastatingly disappointing and essentially making the last 20minutes of Kenshiros struggle utterly worthless. Even looking at the Ending of this movie objectively with 0 emotions involved i can say it was a pretty bad ending. I'm fine with sad/non happy endings in anime but the execution on this was just poor and rushed as it quickly cuts to a black credits scene. Overall i score this anime a 6 due to it falling off hard in the last 20minutes, but if you're a big fist of the northstar fan then it's probably at least worth the watch.
