Moving on..
Going into "Jidokhage Kkeureoango Jidokhage Kiseuhago" or "Awfully Damn Kiss and Hug", whatever you wanna call it, I didn't really have high expectations for it.. By the setting alone I figured this would be a cliché delinquent/good girl shoujo manga, however, I quickly realized that wasn't the case at all.
Story:
As I said, the setting didn't seem all that original when compared to other works of the same genre..Still, it is extremely well organized with very good pacing and the right amount of suspense to keep things interesting.
There's also some comedy sprinkled between the plot, mostly delivered by our heroine Young-Un, and quite a few fight sequences. Despite this, the drama and depth of the manhwa remains consistent, and these scenes never feel unnecessary or forced.
Art:
I really, really love the artwork for this manhwa. I'm not an expert in art, so all I can say is that it has a really good contrast and that, despite this being of the shoujo genre, it manages to work really well with fighting sequences.
I don't know what more to say about it..so I'll just say that it was definitely what caught my attention when I found this series. (as the synopsis is nonexistent..)
Characters:
Now, this might be the reason why I love this manhwa so much.
The characters have a very good sense of identity and none of them seem to lack importance in any way. They all seem to connect in one way or another, and it is genuinely entertaining to learn more about them as the story progresses.
The reasons behind the characters' actions are explained fairly well, and it is obvious that a lot of thought was put into creating a believable interaction between them.
Overall Enjoyment:
Awfully Damn Kiss and Hug is a manhwa that needs more recognition..
It is certainly a hidden gem in the shoujo genre, the only issue I have with it is the lack of updates..but it is understandable at this point.
I recommend this to just about anyone!
I really enjoyed what I was given so far with this series, and I have high hopes for future updates.
So, overall, I would give this a 9/10, it certainly jumped up into my personal favorites.
