Preliminary (6/12 eps)
I saw the score this anime had recieved and felt inclined to write a review myself.

First of all, out of all the anime's that have come out recently, this is one of the best. It's not the best of all time, but as a generic magical girl anime, this takes the cake.

I'm an incredibly picky anime-watcher, and just the slightest cringe will turn me off an anime. Boring plotlines turn me off as well, which brings us to the story:

Soushin Shoujo Matoi is indeed a generic magical girl anime. BUT. It's not the bad kind. Trust me. In fact, calling it generic would be unfair, because "plots" aren't patented and most likely have been used before. It does however, have a plot that is very common within its genre. Girl finds out she's magical (except in this case technically an exorcist), gets shoved the responsibility of power, awkwardly learns to use that power yada, yada, yada. But really, it's a standard plotline, and a plotline that works. Who on earth would want to watch anime's without any character development??? (Don't even get me started on fairy tale).

I have no complaints about the art, it's amazing. And the music is enthralling and exciting, bringing something a little more mature to the table.

The characters are endearing, funny, however, the main character could use a little more pizazz! I also wish there was at least one male main character, but I don't mind how it is. (I tend to steer towards female main characters anyway).

Overall, I really enjoy this show, and maybe will continue to enjoy it in the future (here's to hoping!)
