I love how simple the theme of story coming up with a bigger story line. The story simply outlined by the main character got stuck in a natural disaster, away from their parents and how they going back to their home.

They story get deeper since the earthquake itself only marking the outside problem they had, like an orange skin, where the sweetness and stuff happen on the inside, the character personal feeling, emotions, and how they work with it the entire series from something negative to positive in such a smooth way that the audience can understand why the character act all negative and how they turn it.

I am honestly anxious all the entire series because almost every episode there is a BIG chance a character will die, and looking at how they together the entire way, expressing their emotions, somehow I got connected with the character emotionally, and I DON'T want anything bad happened to them. But for a bit of hint (ups..bit spoiler) the story doesn't all that happy ending.

And if you are into slice of life, especially a relation about family, parents and kids, brother and sister. This anime is that kind of series that will set you in a better perspective regarding your relationship with them, and in fact the core point of this anime is that you can LEARN the most important thing of having a family. Which is mean that it is NOT a meaningless animation to watch. The same way I learn about life from Hayao Miyazaki's movies, this one definitely HERE to teach something to audience, something beautiful, and it is rare to get much anime this deep nowadays. IMHO.

As well we can see (implicitly) how Mirai-chan looking at people overall. When she was actually hate people because most of them was egocentric, impolite and whatsoever...until she met lots of stranger that in the end help her and her brother towards their journey home. It teach her (and us) that although there are lots of badness in this world, we still can catch lots of humanity in the people himself. People that can put their ego aside, their sadness and personal feelings, to help everyone/stranger during though time, understand that we need to help each other during this kinds of crisis....and again I can see that this is how Japanese people are. This anime draws the image of Japanese people, the beauty of the people in a perspective.

And I won't forget to mention how the ending is SO SURPRISING and UNEXPECTED in a way I CANNOT IMAGINE. It is like watching Tokyo Love Story when I was a kid.

Regarding the art, I can say that the most outstanding part of this anime is how the art team design a wrecked city all over the series. But it still lack in minor details and for the colouring it is a bit plain. Since there is a better anime that suit my preference regarding arts (which is something like Kabaneri and Zankyou no Terror in terms of colouring or even Spirited Away, which is probably most anime lover will turn to in terms of art and animation). But I am happy and feast enough with it to give it a 8.

Ok one thing I don't understand is why they put that Ending single. Haha. Not that I don't like it, in fact it was a really nice song M/elody. But tbh imo it is to lively and happy to be paired with an anime with tragic disaster and loss and stuff. It was like watching an anxious episode then at the end it was greet by a happy song at the end. Quite unparalleled feeling imo. It could be fit something with slower beat, that pierce through your chess like an arrow...so to say. Still a lovely song and I love it.

Simply said, it is a story that worth to watch, worth to spend some time, and I will very recommend it to be watch together with your family, friends, and your loved one. You might ended up crying and hugging each other in the end. Cheers! :)
