So, upon the urging of some friends, i watched this anime. Please note that i haven't seen the 2nd or 3rd seasons of it, and i dont plan to... not after that, i won't. So I'm judging this season by itself and not by what happened afterwards. I really don't know why this anime is so popular. I will refrain from bringing up specific things to avoid spoilers (for people who hate that). Fate Stay Night was confusing. Close to the middle i realised none of the characters knew what the hell was going on and blantantly contradicted their own assertions from prior episodes. The characters constant flip-flopping between what they believed to be true made it difficult for me to take anything anyone said seriously. Hence, the confusion, and my annoyance.
The main protagonist is sexist jerk and a retard. An irritating combination. Infact, there are very few likable characters. Instead of developing the characters:only seemed to regress. Saber started out as a proud, focused hero/(heroine?) and by the end of it was a complete sellout. It would exhaust me to go through how all the characters regressed, but this was basically the trend: all of turn into disappointments.
The art is pretty good, though. I'll concede. Especially considering when it released. But other than that, there are few praises i can heap on this anime. It's just baffling to me that people have such rave reviews about it, I'm wondering if i watched the same snime everyone is talking about.
